Jacobson continues to serve on the prestigious Communications and Media Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and their Entertainment Law Committee.
Jeffery Jacobson is extensively involved in Committees and holds positions in many relevant organizations to enhance his knowledge of Intellectual Property and to mentor young attorneys beginning their careers. For over 40 years he has been a member of the Copyright Society of the USA and has served on the Editorial Board of the Society’s journal since 1989, been a Trustee, sat on the Executive Committee, and co-chaired their first web committee. Jacobson also founded the Urban Intellectual Property Seminars program, which is an extension of the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association.
Jacobson serves on numerous entertainment law committees and is extremely active in the copyright bar. Jacobson teaches in an adjunct capacity at Hunter College, CUNY and has taught at Ramapo College of New Jersey and Five Towns College in Dix Hills for a decade teaching Copyrights and Music Business Contacts, Publishing, Advanced Music Business, and The Business of Music.
He has served on the Trademark & Unfair Competition Committee and Copyright and Literary Property Law Committee. Jacobson also serves on the CLE faculty as well as the N2K Task Force. Jacobson chairs the subcommittee in the Intellectual Property Law section of the American Bar Association and composes reports on topics such as “Satellites,” “Copyright Renewal,” and “Copyright Law Compliance for Authors,” as well as chair for the Broadcasting, Sound Recording and Music Committee. Jacobson also sits on the Advisory Committee of the New York Music Task Force and served as Vice-President of the Performing Arts Unit of B’nai Birth.
