(New York, NY) – The Jacobson Firm, P.C. has been retained by former Miami Heat NBA Player, Anthony Mason, Jr., to handle administrative matters relating to his father and former New York Knick and NBA All-Star Anthony Mason’s Estate. Anthony Mason, Jr. played at St. John’s University before being signed as a free agent by the NBA’s Miami Heat. Mason, Jr. later continued playing professionally as part of FIBA teams in France and Greece. 05-12-15 – GARY BROWN INDUCTED INTO SUFFOLK SPORTS HALL OF FAME
(New York, NY) – Client, Gary Brown, former Green Bay Packer and Super Bowl XXXI champion, was recently inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall Of Fame. He graduated from Brentwood High School in Long Island and then attended Georgia Tech after receiving All-American honors at Nassau Community College. He played in the NFL for four years on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. Mr. Brown was part of the 1996 Green Bay Packers Super Bowl XXXI championship team and then played overseas for the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe and Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League. After his playing days, he founded The Gary Big Brown 68 Foundation, whose mission is to provide aid and mentoring to the sick, troubled and underprivileged youths and their families in the Tri-State area. He works with numerous charitable organizations, including the Brentwood Bay Shore Breast Cancer coalition, Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Big Brother / Big Sister of Long Island, St. Jude’s Children Hospital and the Susan G. Komen Of Greater NYC.
05-11-15 – JEFFREY E. JACOBSON: COUNSEL TO KIDS FOR COLTRANE, INC
(New York, NY) – Jeffrey E. Jacobson was recently named counsel to Kids for Coltrane, Inc. Kids for Coltrane, Inc. is a New York non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. They have done programs to educate elementary school children in music and jazz. The Kids for Coltrane Project is a program that uses jazz to teach children about American history, equality, character education and the arts. By doing this, children become invested in literacy, creativity, compassion and curiosity. Led by Christine Passarella, a retired school teacher, this project was run by her in the New York City school where she taught. The children loved the program and raised funds to support the friends of The Coltrane Home.

(New York, NY) – James W. Taylor, Esq., Of Counsel attorney to The Jacobson Firm and resident in the firm’s Seattle office has been selected to be a film submission reviewer by the Sonoma International Film Festival. In this role, Taylor will review films submitted to the festival held annually in Sonoma, California. The 2015 festival will be held March 25 to 29, 2015 in Sonoma. This festival screens nearly 200 films, shorts and documentaries from all over the world. The 2014 festival drew about 18,000 attendees and programmed 118 films from 22 countries, the majority of which were critically acclaimed. Taylor joins a group of other media professionals in determining which film submissions will be screened. In addition, Taylor’s script, “Local Secrets” was selected as a semi-finalist in a recent script competition and one of his films, a documentary, was broadcast on the Discovery Channel for a five year period and another screened internationally and received critical acclaim.

Taylor brings more than 30 ears of diverse legal experience and will be based in Seattle, Washington. (New York, NY) – The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated a series of agreements with event production company, All Axcess Tour, LLC and college documentary and event production company, I’m Smacked, LLC for their Fall 2013 Tour featuring headliner, EDM Producer, Fareoh. The Fall Tour visited numerous college campuses including Texas A&M, Ohio State University, Vanderbilt University University of North Carolina, Rutgers University, and many more and featured performances by DJ George Garcia. (New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, PC successfully negotiated an investor financing agreement on behalf of its clients, NoMoore Productions, and Producer Alexander Schepsman for the motion picture, “Bluebird.” The production will begin filming this upcoming month. Mr. Schepsman previously produced a Sundance Film Festival entrant, and triple Spirit Award nominee, “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” starring Elizabeth Olson, released in 2011 and distributed by Fox Searchlight. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the arts, Mr. Schepsman’s senior thesis film, “Stroll,” won the Best Student Short at the Emerging Filmmaker’s Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010.

Jacobson, Esq. of The Jacobson Firm, P.C. was recently appointed as the New York City Bar Association Entertainment Law Committee’s Liaison to the New York City Bar Association’s Art Law Committee. In this role, Jacobson will report on the doings of the Art Law Committee to the Entertainment Law Committee. He has been an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Entertainment Law Committee for over a decade.

06-09-11 – THE JACOBSON FIRM, P.C. NEGOTIATES CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CONTRACT FOR “THE GAYLE KING SHOW”
(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated an employment contract with the Oprah Winfrey Network, on behalf of Rachel Weintraub, as the Co-Executive Producer of “The Gayle King Show.” Prior to this, Ms. Weintraub had been an Emmy-nominated Producer of “The View”. “The Gayle King Show” premiered on January 10th, 2011 on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and has already hosted a number of prominent guests, including First Lady Michelle Obama, Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Justin Bieber, Chris Rock, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
06-03-11 – THE JACOBSON FIRM, P.C. NEGOTIATES DEAL BETWEEN SONGWRITER TONY PACE AND UNIQUE INSPIRATIONAL GROUP
(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated an agreement with the internationally renowned musical group Flame, for the use of client and songwriter Tony Pace’s song “Someone Like You” on its first album. Flame, whose mission is to change the world through music, is an ensemble of twelve members all sharing a unique characteristic; they all have developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and blindness.
The idea for this one-of-a-kind group sprang from a 2003 recreational program at Lexington Center, Fulton County Chapter, NYSARC, Inc., a not-for-profit agency serving people with developmental disabilities. The group began playing at the agency and around town, and word of the inspirational phenomenon quickly spread. Flame currently schedules close to a hundred paid performances a year around the world. The group has performed at the Apollo Theatre, Harvard Law School, Notre Dame University, Idaho Taco Bell Center, and Athens, Greece. Flame has also appeared on “Good Morning America” and was recently featured in People Magazine.
Flame recently released its first album entitled “Outside the Lines,” featuring twelve tracks, one of which covers songwriter Tony Pace’s moving tune, “Someone Like You.” This is the first time one of Mr. Pace’s songs has been covered by another artist. Jeffrey E. Jacobson, of The Jacobson Firm, P.C., successfully brokered the mechanical licensing agreement and song placement on behalf of client Tony Pace, allowing Flame to produce its own unique version of the song.
04-28-11 – THE JACOBSON FIRM, P.C. NEGOTIATES LICENSING DEAL FOR SUPERBOWL COMMERCIAL SEEN BY MILLIONS.
(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated a synchronization license on behalf of a client songwriter for use in a major corporation’s television commercial airing during Super Bowl XLV. The license covered the use of the client’s musical composition in a commercial airing during the third quarter of the prestigious sporting event. Super Bowl XLV was seen by a record setting television audience—111 million viewers in the United States alone tuned into this year’s game.
04-03-11 – JEFFREY E. JACOBSON SERVES AGAIN AS FINALIST JUDGE
(New York, NY) Jeffrey E. Jacobson of The Jacobson Firm, P.C., served again as a finalist judge in the ASCAP Nathan Burkan Memorial Writing Competition. One of three finalist judges, for the past five years they have helped select the three victorious papers written by law students who are entitled to receive significant cash awards and further consideration for publication. The ASCAP sponsored competition is now administered by the editorial board of the Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. While attending New York Law School in the late 70s, Jacobson himself won the competition.
08-09-10 – JEFFREY E. JACOBSON RE-APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE BROADCASTING, SOUND RECORDINGS AND PERFORMING ARTISTS COMMITTEE
Jeffrey E. Jacobson has been reappointed Chairman of the Broadcasting, Sound Recordings and Performing Artists Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA Committee 306). His responsibilities include guiding members in developing Bar Association policy positions in the form of resolutions, with a proactive approach in the copyright area.
Jeffrey E. Jacobson spoke at the national webinar, “Seeking Harmony in Music Distribution,” for the American Bar Association Connection. Mr. Jacobson also moderated a webinar on the proposed Performing Rights Act that is pending before Congress.
